Guide
How to share Claude skills with your team on Pro or Max plans
On Claude Pro or Max, you can't share a skill: each person downloads the skill's ZIP and uploads it to their own account under Customize > Skills. To give everyone one shared copy instead, put the skill in AI Skill Pod and have each person add one MCP link as a custom connector, which works on Pro and Max.
Short answer
- Built in: Share, Publish to the organization, and admin provisioning exist only on Claude Team and Enterprise.
- On Pro or Max: send the ZIP; each person uploads it. Every change means a new ZIP for everyone.
- One shared copy: a custom connector to a shared skill pod. Custom connectors work on every Claude plan (Free is limited to one).
What Claude offers on each plan
Skills themselves work on every plan, Free included. Sharing them is what the plans split:
| Feature | Free, Pro, Max | Team, Enterprise |
|---|---|---|
| Upload your own skill | Yes | Yes |
| Share a view-only link with colleagues | No | Yes (groups on Enterprise only) |
| Publish to the organization's library | No | Yes, with optional owner review |
| Admin uploads a skill for everyone | No | Yes |
| Custom connector (remote MCP) | Yes (Free: one) | Yes |
From Claude's Help Center, read on 4 November 2026.
Claude's own help page puts it plainly: on plans other than Team and Enterprise, each person uploads skills to their own account.
The do-it-yourself way: pass the ZIP around
This works today and costs nothing beyond the plans you already pay for.
- Make the skill a ZIP. A skill is a folder with a
SKILL.mdfile in it. Zip the folder. If you start from a doc, the free SKILL.md converter writes the file and the ZIP for you. - Send it. Slack, email, or a shared drive.
- Each person uploads it. In Claude: Customize > Skills > "+" > "+ Create skill" > "Upload a skill", then pick the ZIP. Code execution must be on, since skills run with it.
- Repeat on every change. When you fix a step, you send a new ZIP and everyone uploads it again.
Step 4 is where this breaks. After a month, three people run three versions of "the" proposal skill, and nobody can say which one wrote last week's proposal.
The shared way: one pod, one connector
Custom connectors let Claude reach a remote MCP server, and they're on Pro and Max. A skill pod is such a server: it holds the team's skills, and every connected Claude reaches the same copy.
- Create the pod and add skills. Paste a doc, or tell Claude "make this a team skill" in the chat where you worked it out.
- Send one invite link. Personal emails work, so a teammate on a personal Pro account joins like anyone else.
- Each person adds the connector once. Customize > Connectors > "+ Add" > "Add custom connector", then paste the pod's MCP link.
- Edits land for everyone. A change is proposed in chat and approved in one click; the next person to use the skill gets the new version.
One honest limit: Claude chat and Desktop don't load skills served over MCP into the Skills list (Anthropic's issue tracker has an open request for it). Claude reaches the pod's skills through the MCP link instead, as it uses any connector.

When Claude Team is the better answer
If everyone is a full-time employee, you want Claude usage paid by the company anyway, and you only use Claude, Team does the job with Anthropic's own sharing. Claude Team Standard is $25 per seat a month, or $20 billed annually, with a 2-seat minimum.
It stops fitting when part of the team lives elsewhere: a contractor on their own Pro account, a colleague who works in ChatGPT, or a developer in Cursor. Claude's sharing reaches only members of your Claude organization. See Claude Team skill sharing compared for the full table, and the contractor guide for the second case.
Questions
Can a Pro user send a skill link to another Pro user?
No. Claude's Share button, which makes a view-only link for colleagues, is a Team and Enterprise feature. On Pro and Max, each person uploads the skill to their own account.
Is Claude Team worth it just to share skills?
Claude Team Standard costs $25 per seat a month ($20 billed annually), with a 2-seat minimum, and everyone has to be in your organization. It also brings Claude usage for every seat. If your people already pay for Pro or Max, or some are contractors with their own accounts, a shared skill pod is the smaller step.
Will the skill show up in Claude's Skills list?
Not through AI Skill Pod. Claude chat and Desktop don't load skills served over MCP into the Skills list. Claude reaches the pod's skills through the MCP link instead, the way it uses any connector.
